Campgrounds Prepare for a Busy Memorial Day Weekend

The Memorial Day holiday is fast approaching and AAA projects more than 38 million Americans will travel this weekend.

That’s the second highest Memorial Day travel volume on record.

Duluth is well known for its outdoor activities, concerts and shows. This attracts people from not only the region but the world.

At Indian Point campground workers are fixing the bathrooms, mowing the lawns and cleaning fire rings.

The owner says that they have been booked since Christmas and only expect to get busier.

Charlie Stauduhar, the manager of Indian Point Campground, said “Our camping continues to grow here in Duluth. The upgrades being done and the St. Louis River, which is soon going to be a national paddling waterway, makes us excited for what that brings too.”

Busy travel is spurred by the lowest gas prices in more than a decade, about 700,000 more people will travel compared to last year.
