Fatal UTV Crash in Ashland County

Park Falls man is dead after rolling UTV

On Sunday, July 24, at approximately 3:00 pm, the Ashland County Communications Center received a 911 telephone call reporting a Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) crash on Forest Road 337 in the Township of Shanagolden, south east of Clam Lake, WI.

The UTV involved in the crash was operated by Corey Hughes, 29, of Park Falls, WI.

The UTV apparently hydroplaned on some water covering the trail, according to a witness. The UTV rolled over and landed on top of Corey and his passenger Colleen Hughes, 21, also from Park Falls.

Corey was pronounced dead at the scene. Colleen, sustained unknown injuries and was transported to the Park Falls hospital by the Great Divide Ambulance service.

The incident remains under investigation.
