Lake Superior Railroad Museum Voted Best in the Country

Voted Best Transportation Museum by USA Today

In an online poll conducted by USA Today/10BEST announced that the Lake Superior Railroad Museum was voted the Best Transportation Museum in the country. The final tally was announced Friday, July 22, by USA Today.

Executive Director of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum, Ken Buehler, says,” This is indeed a great honor, especially when you consider some of the other fabulous museums that were considered for this award.”

Others on the list included; the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg (#5), Philadelphia’s Simeone Automotive Foundation Museum (#2), the Maritime Museum of San Diego and at #10 the Illinois Railway Museum just outside of the Chicago.

Twenty transportation museums were selected by a panel of experts, and then voting was open to the public online over several weeks.

The entire Lake Superior Railroad Museum is housed in the 1892 Union Depot in downtown Duluth, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
