Local State of Emergency Declared

Areas near Duluth and Ely are among the hardest hit

A local state of emergency has been declared in St. Louis County after the July 11th storms ripped through the area causing downed trees and power lines.

The decision comes Tuesday by county commissioners, meaning the county could now receive disaster relief funding if damages exceed a certain amount, which they are expected to.

Clean up continues throughout the Arrowhead region and power restoration is still in the works.

The County Assessor’s Office will begin sending people into the field next week to assess damage on private properties.
