Proctor Man Arrested on Fleeing and Assault Charges

Samuel Nelson formally charged on Tuesday

On Tuesday, July 26, 2016, Samuel Nelson of Proctor was formally charged with two counts of Fleeing Police in a Motor Vehicle and one count of Assault in the Second Degree which involves a dangerous weapon.

The charges against Nelson stemmed from multiple incidents over the past two weeks. Nelson fled, obstructed and assaulted Duluth Police Officers. He was later taken into custody by Duluth Police and members of the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force on July 23.

He was arrested in the 2800 block of West 2nd Street.

Nelson has numerous felony charges pending, and an ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Duluth Police Department Property Crimes Unit (Auto Theft) and Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force.

Nelson is currently in custody at the St. Louis County Jail in Duluth. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
