New Laws To Take Effect In Minnesota

Several Minnesota laws become active Aug. 1

Starting Monday, Aug. 1 several new laws will go into effect in Minnesota.

Several laws were passed by the Minnesota legislature this year, including one that raises the minimum wage.

Another allows people to name representatives of who will take control of their social media accounts in their wills.

A new law will also go into effect that removes the states five-day waiting period to get a marriage license.

Minnesota lawmakers left big-ticket items like tax relief and construction projects unfinished.

Legislative leaders are considering a special session in mid-August.
