Improvements Being Made to Highway 53 in Duluth

Safety improvement project will include signal and pedestrian accessibility upgrades

Beginning Monday August 8, crews will begin upgrading the intersection of Highway 53 and Haines Road.

Motorists can expect occasional lane closures during the project, and are encouraged to plan accordingly.

Improvements on the intersection include, traffic signal upgrades with pedestrian push buttons and audible beacons, reconstructed sidewalks with accessible curb ramps, and St. Louis County fiber optic network upgrades.

The project is expected to last through September.
