A Lakeside Coffee Shop Applies for a Liquor License

Amity Coffee is the First Business in Lakeside to Apply for a Liquor License

Amity Coffee has become the first business to apply for a license to sell beer and wine in the Lakeside neighborhood.

This is where a prohibition that was nearly a century old on the sale of alcohol ended this past June.

The Duluth Alcohol, Gambling and Tobacco Commission will take up Amity Coffees request and the owners hope that it will improve their business.

Jordan Pykkonen, the Manager at Amity Coffee, said “I think people who are against things are usually more vocal but it’s the people who come in and tell us they are excited that makes us happy. We will start out slow and see how it goes.”

Amity still awaits confirmation from the commission.
