Registration Opens for 14th Annual Citizens’ Police Academy

Superior Police Department gives residents a chance for hands-on experience

The Superior Police Department has opened registration for its 14th annual Citizen’s Police Academy.

The department’s eight week, nine session program begins on September 21 and offers residents information on many law enforcement topics and hands-on class experience.

Police Officers, evidence technicians, supervisors, and detectives become teachers to give the community a better understanding of the true nature of police work.

Classes run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays, on session will be on a Saturday morning.

Candidates must complete an application, live or work in Superior, and be at least 21 years of age. The must also pass a basic background check and have no prior felony convictions and habitual violations.

The class is free, but limited to 25 participants. Application deadline is Friday, September 9.

Applications are available on the City’s website or can be picked up at the Police Department reception desk, or can be requested to be mailed by calling 715-395-7450.
