Minnesota State Fair to Increase Security

Once again there will be something new on a stick at The Great Minnesota Get-Together, but there will also be new security measures.

The Minnesota State Fair’s comprehensive security program will be expanded for 2016 to include bag checks at all entry gates.

Bags, purses, coolers and packages will be subject to search at each of the State Fair’s 11 entrances during the upcoming fair.

The State Fair has also adjusted safety procedures in several other areas including security staffing levels, vehicle access, traffic management and video.

The State Fair’s security plan is developed in conjunction with local, state and federal public safety agencies.

The fair greatly expanded its security systems in 2002.

Since then, the fair has annually made adjustments to its security systems and added new public safety features.
