Rendezvous Days in Grand Portage Remembers Days Gone By

Event celebrates the history of the area through reenactment camps and other displays.

The Mist of Avalon visited the Grand Portage Rendezvous Days before sailing into the Duluth harbor for the Tall Ships festival.

Rendezvous Days celebrates the history of the area with a Native American Pow-wow, blacksmithing demonstrations, and other arts and crafts of the time.

“It’s just a great glimpse of Minnesota and US history and world history. You’re really getting a sense of what it was like back then. It’s fun to see the passion that this group has,” said Cait McGowan who was visiting the festival from St. Paul.

Around three hundred reenactors camped on-site to honor the legacy of the fur trade and its importance to the area.
