DTA Route 16 Detoured to Bong Bridge
Blatnik Bridge construction will result in a major detour for Route 16
The Duluth Transit Authority has posted the detour that is now in effect for Route 16 that runs between Duluth and Superior.
Due to the construction on the Blatnik Bridge, the DTA has detoured its Route 16 buses onto the Bong Bridge en-route to Superior beginning Monday, August 22 until construction has ended around mid-September.
DTA DETOUR ROUTING: Route 16 buses will depart downtown Duluth via Superior Street, then detour to southbound I-35 via the on-ramp at Mesaba Avenue. Route 16 buses will continue on I-35 to the Bong Bridge to Belknap Street, left on Banks Ave., right on Broadway St., right on Tower Avenue to 14th Street and then back to the regular route.
Traffic from Superior to Duluth will reduce to one lane, Delays should be expected during peak periods.
North End of Superior Shuttle Services: North End of Superior passengers will be served by DTA shuttle services from downtown Superior to North End Superior during morning and afternoon peak hours (7-9 a.m. and 3-6 p.m.) on weekdays. NO shuttle service will be provided during off-peak weekday hours or on weekends. Shuttle schedules can be obtained by bus operators.
- Weekday Peak Hour Service: Weekday DTA service from North End to Tower Ave & 14th Street will be provided every half-hour during the peak hours listed above. Transfers to Itasca, Billings Park, or South Superior will be made on Tower Avenue.
- Weekday Off-Peak and Weekend Service: Those wishing to travel around the area will need to find alternate way to downtown Superior.
Garfield Avenue and Goodwill Industries: DTA service will be provided during the southbound lane closure to Garfiled Avenue and Goodwill – departing the DTC at 6:40 a.m., 8:02 a.m., and 12:07 p.m.
DTA service from Goodwill to downtown Duluth will not be affected and will run as scheduled. Passengers on Garfield Avenue and Goodwill wishing to travel to Superior are advised to travel to downtown Duluth and transfer to Route 16.
