Esko Volleyball Bolstered by Wagemaker Return

Senior Missed Entire Junior Year with Torn ACL

This is a big week for prep sports in Minnesota, and school isn’t even in session yet.
Season openers are just a couple days away for soccer and volleyball.

In esko, Eskomo volleyball is getting ready for thursday’s opener against Hibbing.
Coach Desiree DeLeon’s team has been strengthened by senior co–captain Judy Wagemaker’s return.

Wagemaker tore her anterior criciate ligament last summer and missed her entire junior year.  That’s both volleyball and basketball seasons.  So as you can imagine, Wagemaker is ecstatic to be back.

“I can’t stop smiling,” said Wagemaker.  I don’t know what to say except I’m so excited to with my team and my coach and just give it all my senior year.”

DeLeon says Wagemaker’s imapct goes beyond the box score.

“To have Judy back is big.,” said DeLeon.  “She is the go-to captain, they go to her, they look to her for what she does and how she leads verbally.  She’s such an all-around player that they’re looking at her all the time like that.”
