Essentia Nurses Set to Vote on Contract

After Reaching a Tentative Agreement Last Week, Nurses Will Cast Votes

It’s voting day Thursday for nurses at Essentia Health in Duluth and Superior.
The Minnesota Nurses Association and Essentia Health reached a tentative deal on a new contract.

Nurses will now vote on the contract tomorrow, September 8.

“It’s very important; we always want to provide consistent, high quality care for all of our patients and we are looking forward to reaching an agreement with the Minnesota Nurses Association,” Maureen Talarico, Essentia Spokesperson said.

The deal eliminates what is known as Contract Plan “B” health insurance in exchange for concessions from Essentia Health.

The MNA is asking members of the union to approve the deal.

You may recall in July, nurses engaged in an informational picket after the MNA and Essentia met a handful of times.

“I think we have the shared values of delivering the safest, highest quality of care we can for our patients each and every day at Essentia Health,” Talarico said.
The nurses’ union represents nearly 1,300 registered nurses at Essentia Health in the Twin Ports.
