Ekstrom Goes Above and Beyond for Military Families
Superior National Head Pro Played More than 100 Holes
Heath Ekstrom, Head Professional at Superior National Golf Course wanted to play 100 holes of golf Sunday. He played 122.
Ekstrom played from sunrise to sunset for Folds of Honor, an organization that gives scholarships to families of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines killed in action. He also played in memory of George Nelson, a World War II veteran who donated the land for Superior National.
After more than 100 holes of golf, Ekstrom was tired, but he says that was a small sacrifice compared to the servicemen and women who give their lives.
“This is just golf,” said Ekstrom. “For what they do daily in combat or just in the military and the sacriufice that they give. They give their lives, and I’m just playing golf.”
Ekstom took pledges to raise money for Folds of Honor. He says he raised about $3,500. Anyone still interested in donating should contact Superior National or Folds of Honor.
