Bulldogs Take Pair of NSIC Awards

Bofferding, Mauch Take Weekly Honors for UMD Football, Volleyball

UMD Football went unranked in this week’s Division II polls despite improving to 2–1 at Concordia-St. Paul over the weekend.

The 52–49 score likely has something to do with that.

But Bulldog Beau Bofferding earned Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors after the senior set a school record with 182 kick return yards against the Golden Bears.

Bofferding ripped off returns of 70 and 54 yards.  He also scored a pair of touchdowns on offense.

Also, Sydnie Mauch was named the conference’s Offensive Player of the Week in volleyball.

The senior averaged more than three kills per set last week, and led the NSIC with a hitting percentage over 60.  Mauch also racked up a team high 10 blocks.

The Bulldogs moved up one spot to No. 2 in the latest AVCA poll.  This week, UMD visits St. Cloud State Tuedsay before spending the weekend at home against Upper Iowa and No. 9 Winona State.
