Local Family Farm Wants to Share Fall Festivities With the Community

Family Fun for All Ages Offering Pumpkins, Hayrides, and a Whole Lot More

After nearly a century of farming in Northern Minnesota, one tight-knit family is wanting to share the joy of fall harvest time with your family.

Since 1926, the Simek Family Farm has been tilling up the land near Kelsey, and milking cows all while educating youngsters about having a strong work ethic.

“We come and we plant together, harvest together and we work together all season in the fall to share our farm with everybody else,” Andrea Simek, Co-owner of Simek’s Farm said.

Recently, the family decided to try something new, a pumpkin patch.

The family run production offers a huge variety of pumpkins, gourds, hay rides, farm animals, and even a corn maze with this year’s theme being “goat in a boat,” Simek said.

“I think it brings a lot of people back to their younger days and especially grandparents and parents like to share that with the kids,” Simek said.

Simek’s Farm is only open Saturdays and Sundays from 10a.m. until 5p.m., from September 17 through October 23.

Admission is five dollars, plus a two dollar charge for hayrides.

Simek’s Farm is located at 8997 Arkola Road, Cotton MN, 55724. For questions, call (218) 461-0891 or visit the Simek Farm website.
