Garage Apartment Fire in Hibbing

Officials believe that the fire is a result of arson

On Wednesday, October 26, 2016, around 5 p.m. the Hibbing Fire Department responded to the report of a garage apartment on fire.

Crews arrived on scene to smoke and flames on the 1st floor. Crews entered the structure and the main fire was knocked down quickly and was contained to the first floor of the building.

Witnesses reported suspicious activity that has lead the Fire Department to believe the fire is the result of Arson. The property has been secured and the investigation is being conducted by the Hibbing Fire Marshal and Hibbing Police.

The building sustained significant fire, smoke, and water damage estimated to be in excess of $50,000.

No one was home at the time of the fire and there have been no reports of any injuries at this time.
