Grant Helps Douglas County Historical Society with New Exhibit

Northland Uncovered: DCHS Awarded Grant

Thanks to grant money a new exhibit at Douglas County Historical Society will be coming to life.

The society received $3,000 from the Duluth-Superior Area Community Foundation.

This money will be used to develop a Native American exhibit around a dug out canoe.

Money raised by an 11th grade class at Superior High School was used to carbon date the dug out canoe at the museum.

It’s now confirmed the dug out canoe is Dakota and predates European contact.

They’re planning to have the exhibit completed by December.
