Minnesota Deer Firearm Hunting Season Opens ‘Hot’

Temperatures Were at Record Highs

Minnesota welcomed deer season with record breaking warm temperatures, and hunters are pouring into businesses that specialize in processing deer eager to get their meat in the fridge.

“They can’t hang their deer, they have to bring them in and get them taken care of right away because it is so hot,” said Sue Chalstrom, Co-owner of Chalstrom’s.

Businesses, Like Chalstrom’s, have even had to turn customers away.

And though hunting isn’t the only way people are enjoying the warm weather, many Outdoorsmen, women and children are spending time in the woods, pursuing a passion that has become a tradition in the Northland.

“Nothing is cuter than an 11 year old registering his animal,” said Chalstrom.
