Police and Community Relations Meeting at UMD

Police meet with students and community

A police and community relations forum was held at the University of Minnesota Duluth tonight.

Police Chief Mike Tusken and Mayor Emily Larson were among the panelists who fielded questions and comments from UMD students.

The forum was an opportunity for students and community members to learn about issues affecting policing, such as racial profiling and police use of force.

“Sometimes the best perspective that we get is from people who have not been in a system for an entire lifetime. Often times our students ask the most impactful questions, the most insightful feedback you get,” says Duluth Police Chief Mike Tusken.

The Duluth Police Department has a Citizen Review Board that reviews police activity and procedures.
