Operation Christmas Child Helps Kids in Need

The organization packs shoeboxes full of supplies for kids around the world.

Residents around northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin are helping those who are less fortunate with one shoebox at a time.

Operation Christmas Child packs shoeboxes full of school supplies, hygiene items, notes of encouragement, and toys for kids in need around the world.

The organization wants to provide more than just items, but also hope.

“Look beyond our circumstances, remember others particularly children who are in difficult circumstances and hope in a circumstance like that makes a great deal of difference and we’re pleased to be a center that helps that happen,” said coordinator Mark Steward.

Items and shoeboxes can be dropped off at the Mount of Olives Church in Duluth until next Monday.

Last year, they packed nearly 8,000 boxes.
