Bob Dylan Leaving His Nobel in Stockholm

Dylan is a no show for the award ceremony Dec. 10

The Swedish Academy announced today that Bob Dylan will not be heading to Stockholm to pick up his 2016 Nobel Prize for literature at the December 10 ceremony.

The Academy says Dylan told them “he wishes he could receive his prize personally, but other commitments make it unfortunately impossible.”

The 75-year-old American singer-songwriter was awarded the prize on October 13 “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.”

Details are not clear about who will receive the Nobel on Dylan’s behalf. Information is expected to be available by Friday.
