Duluth Honors its Tenured Teachers

The annual Tenured Teachers ceremony recognizes teachers for their dedicated service.

Duluth honored some of its most dedicated teachers with their annual tenured teachers ceremony.

The teachers were recognized before this month’s school board meeting.

To become tenured, the teachers had to go through three years of observations, ongoing staff development training, and receive a positive recommendation from administration.

“It’s important for us to connect with our new teachers and make sure that we show that we appreciate them and honor them. Traditionally, we lose teachers nationwide within the first couple of years of teaching and we want them to know that they are connected to a larger system that is here to support them,” said Greg Jones, development coordinator.

Nearly forty teachers received their tenure across the district.
