Great Outdoors: Mild November Running
With warmer temperatures, people across the Northland are enjoying certain outdoor activities much later than usual.
In this week’s Great Outdoors, we take you running in the warm weather.
“It’s such a beautiful day, you don’t see 60 degrees in November very often, so we just wanted to get outside and get some fresh air,” says runner Andy Wheeler.
This fall, people can really enjoy the outdoors.
“We were just commenting on the ships out here. There’s a sail boat out here, we figure he’s probably happy compared to his buddies who put their boats away for the year,” says Wheeler.
Typically November runners have to pack on the layers.
“Be wearing pants and stocking caps and gloves and everything else if you are running outside,” says Wheeler.
Forcing a lot of them to stay indoors.
“I’d normally be running inside today if not for the weather,” says fellow runner Jake Baker.
But this year, outdoor runners are everywhere, which keeps the specialty stores busy later in the season.
“We’ve been getting a lot of runners in recently here,” says Mike Stukel, sales associate at Tortoise and Hare Footwear.
Until winter arrives, they’re taking to the trails instead of the treadmills.
“We were able to hook up and get out here and who knows when the next 60 degree day will be,” says Wheeler.
By the weekend, these temperatures will start to cool down, so spend time running in the Great Outdoors while you still have a chance this year.
