Great Northern transmission line approved

Reduces carbon footprint

Minnesota Power Great Northern Transmission line was given federal approval today.

The Department of Energy gave them a presidential permit to create an international transmission line.

Through the line, Canada’s hydropower resources from Manitoba will be routed to Minnesota.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2017 for the carbon-reducing project.

The project is expected to cost Minnesota Power between $300-$500 million.
