Fatal crash in Koochiching County leaves 2 dead

Icy roads are believed to have played a major factor

The Minnesota State Patrol responded to a fatal car accident on Highway 71 south of Highway 65 in Koochiching County on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 around 4 p.m.

Road conditions were believed to be a factor in this accident and were reported to have been icy at the time.

The State Patrol has reported that two people are deceased that were involved in this accident, Dyan Vizenor, 40, of International Falls, and Eleanor Jourdain, 40, of International Falls.

The second vehicle involved in the crash was driven by Darrell Rahier, 59, of Effie, Minnesota. Rahier sustained injuries are are believed to be non-life threatening.

Rahier was traveling southbound on Highway 71, when Vizenor, who was traveling northbound, drifted and over-corrected broadsiding Rahier’s vehicle.
