Tips for Safe Holiday Travels

Extra DWI Enforcements to be on Road

Many extra drivers will be on the roads this weekend and within the next month.

Folks will be traveling to visit family and friends during winter weather.

Sgt. Neil Dickenson with the Minnesota State Patrol says drivers should always have their lights on during harsh weather.

State law says if windshield wipers are being used, headlights need to be on, too.

Sgt. Dickenson also reminded drivers to turn off cruise control and to slow down if needed.

There will be extra DWI patrols on Minnesota roads November 23 through December 30.

Officers, deputies and troopers from more than 300 agencies across the state will be participating in the patrols.
