Local UPS Store Owner Offers Safety Tips for Shipping

National Package Protection Day Encourages Homeowners to Stay Alert

If you’ve had it with shopping in stores, and switched entirely to online holiday shopping this year, experts say you still have a few things to potentially worry about.

National Package Protection Day encourages homeowners to stay alert and protect their homes against package theft, which becomes a larger issue during the holidays.

Although the internet is making it easier to find deals and have packages shipped straight to your home, it’s also making it easier for thieves to swipe deliveries right from your front steps.

Local Owner of UPS Store 2761 stopped by FOX 21 Local News Wednesday morning, and offered a few helpful tips to those shipping packages this holiday season.

-Have your packages delivered elsewhere, at a neighbor’s house or your place of employment.

-Get UPS My Choice, so UPS will notify you one day before arrival of your package.

-Utilize a UPS Access Point, or an in-store pickup option.

Drivers are allowed to leave packages in a safe, dry environment unless told otherwise.

Let your local driver know where to leave packages if you have any worry.

Call UPS directly at 1 (800) 742-5877 if you package doesn’t show up, is lost, or stolen.
