Minnesota Zoo’s oldest tiger dies at age 16

Around 80 years old in human years

The oldest tiger at the Minnesota Zoo has died.

The zoo says the tiger named Molniy died, Sunday of helath complications related to aging. He was 16 years old–or about 80 in human years.

Molniy came to the Minnesota Zoo in 2002 from the Detroit Zoo. Zoo officials say the Amur tiger surpassed the expected lifetime of a wild tiger.

Three tigers currently remain at the zoo.
