Pedestrian bridge to NFL stadium costs more than expected

The cost of building a pedestrian bridge to link a light-rail platform with the new U.S. Bank Stadium is about $1 million more than expected.
The Star Tribune  reports that the bridge was supposed to cost $9.65 million to construct, but ended up with about a $10.6 million price tag.
Metropolitan Council’s Transportation Committee approved a series of change orders Monday, which are often required when a project goes over budget.
The council will pay for the bill for now, but officials are trying to recover nearly $465,500 from a consultant that it says made costly errors in the bridge’s design.
The Vikings have already contributed $6 million for the bridge and aren’t contractually obligated to pay more.
