Bike Drive Still Seeking Donations
350 Bikes Have Been Purchased to Give to Children
Bob Rogers has been donating bikes to the local Salvation Army for eight years.
He gathers funds at the Marine General where he works, and even held a thanksgiving dinner event to raise money, with all the proceeds going to buy the bikes. This year he purchased 350 bikes to give away, but he’s still 2,000 dollars short of covering all the costs, and is still collecting donations at the Marine General.
“Way back when, over in Superior ,the fire fighters used to fix old toys and bikes and give them to needy families,” explains Rogers. “Well, our family was needy and we got a lot of those things, and now we’re giving it back, and it’s fun to do it.”
Continental Ski and Bike contributed 350 free helmets to go with the bikes.
