Tips to Stay Safe While Camping in the Winter
Winter weather can pose dangerous threats
Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean people aren’t enjoying the outdoors.
Winter camping is an activity many Northlanders participate in.
It allows campers to explore areas they can’t get to in the summer, but because of harsh conditions, winter camping can be dangerous.
So a much heavier sleeping bag, thicker sleeping pad, and more layers of clothing are needed to stay safe.
“Summertime, you get a little cold, you’re just uncomfortable. In the wintertime, if you’re in a remote location and you get too cold, you can die,” says Greg Pinther, camping manager of Northwest Outlet.
It’s also recommended to check the weather forecast before camping to know what gear you will need to protect yourself.
