Bill Could Secure Funding For Fight Against Opioids

Act Passed In Senate Monday

A bill that would set aside one billion dollars to fight the nation’s opioid crisis passed with a landslide vote in the U.S. Senate.

The 21st Century Cures act passed Monday sets up a sweeping medical research framework for everything from Alzheimer’s disease to opioid addiction.

Senator Amy Klobuchar says the bill would help buy more opioid overdose reversal, Naloxone kits and also help people in the Northland get quicker access to addiction treatment.

Also included in the bill, the Anna Westin Act that focuses on expanding treatment for eating disorders
