Volunteers Host Annual Lutefisk Dinner

Over 100 volunteers helped prepare

First Lutheran Church is expecting up to 1,000 people today for their annual lutefisk dinner.

Over 100 volunteers have been preparing this dinner for weeks now.

They served up lefse, meatballs, coleslaw and salmon but the favorite was definitely the lutefisk.

Beloved master cooker Beatrice Ojakangas said “I wouldn’t want to go to a lutefisk dinner in October because its the wrong time of year. That’s when people are eating apple pie, ya know?”

Ojakangas says there are two things that happen after someone tries lutefisk for the very first time.

She said, “Sometimes they try it and they say no more of that and some say oh that’s really good.”
