Annual Farmers Take the Stove Dinner Celebrates Harvest

Local farmers come together for annual dinner to help create a local food system.

The annual Farmers Take the Stove dinner celebrates the harvest and brings together area farmers.

The Lake Superior Sustainable Farming Association uses the annual fundraiser to help build a bigger marketplace for locally grown food.

“People don’t think of us as an agricultural region but we are food rich here. We have enough land to feed everybody in the whole region and we just need more farmers to do it,” said Sustainable Farming Association Coordinator Claire Hintz.

From the carrots to potatoes, everything at the dinner was made locally. The dinner also featured a panel of local brewers who discussed how to grow hops for beer production.
