Duluth Public Library Moves Forward with Strategic Plan

The plan will guide the library for the next five years.

Approval from the Duluth City Council was the last step the Duluth Public Library needed to move forward with their strategic plan.

The plan will help guide library services and it will work to accomplish five core goals.

The number one goal is to get every child in Duluth ready to read, learn, and succeed by the time they reach kindergarten.

“Library services and needs are changing really fast, so it’s important to help guide our direction but we didn’t want to lock ourselves in for too many years because we want to be flexible to the changing needs of the community when it comes to library services,” said library manager Carla Powers.

The strategic plan doesn’t call for specifics regarding the library building itself. However it does start the groundwork to begin discussion of the building’s future.
