Johnson’s Bakery Brings Tray of Goodies for National Pastry Day

National Pastry Day is Celebrated Annually on December 9

If you’re tired of making breakfast and want to take it easy this Friday, then you’re in luck!

Each year on December 9, we celebrate National Pastry Day.

Friday morning on FOX 21 Local News, Megan Spitzley, Manager of Johnson’s Lakeside Bakery, brought in a tray of goodies for the morning crew.

Pastry is a name given to a large variety of baked goods which are made with ingredients such as flour, sugar, milk, butter, shortening, baking powder and eggs.

The dough is rolled out thinly, and then used as a base for different baked products. They can be traced back to the ancient Mediterranean where they had almost paper thin baklava and phyllo dough.

The French and Italians eventually perfected the puff and choux pastries.
