Hibbing Museum Shares Woman’s Collection of 500 Santa Claus Figurines

Some of the Santa Claus figurines will be on display through the end of January.

Jan Carey has collected over five hundred versions of Santa Claus.

She’s sharing some of her collection with the Hibbing Historical Society’s Museum now through the end of January.

Jan started collecting in 1982 and she will pick up a Santa Claus wherever she travels. She has also received many figurines from friends and family.

“I kind of fell in love with the figure itself of the chubby cheeks and the giving and the smile and the sparkle in the eye and it just seemed like an appropriate thing to collect and enjoy during the holiday season,” said Carey.

At their Christmas tea, the historical society held a scavenger hunt to count the correct number of Santa Claus figurines.

The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
