Northern Waters celebrates one year anniversary

DULUTH, Minn.

Duluth’s Northern Waters Smokehouse’s newer location on Woodland Avenue is getting close to celebrating its one year anniversary.

The sit-down restaurant in the Mount Royal Shopping Center opened in February and continues to try and have the same success their Canal Park predecessor has.

Management at the restaurant said they started out with a bang with a boom of customers, but things have changed some.

“Business has kind of been slower, since then,” said Greg Conley, general manager. “We are still struggling to get people to know that we’re here. We do have fans of our place in Canal Park, most of them know that we’re here, but as far as the greater community, we have people that live right in the neighborhood, that are like ‘Oh I didn’t know you guys were open.’ We’ve been open over a year now.”

Representatives from the restaurant said one of their goals as a restaurant is to focus on local ingredients.

The smokehaus does have a no tipping policy, with all gratuities included in the bill.
