Christmas Weekend Winter Storm

The real headline this week will be during this upcoming weekend with Christmas Eve and Christmas Day on Saturday and Sunday respectively. We are concerned about the potential of a snow storm somewhere in the Upper Midwest.

Right now confidence is growing that somewhere in North Dakota, Minnesota or Wisconsin will see potentially significant snowfall.
The map below shows the computer model track from the European Center. With the center of low pressure moving through the heart of the Northland, we will likely be seeing rain to snow and everything in between.

What is also a concern with this storm is the threat for mixed precipitation where sleet and freezing rain are a strong possibility on during the afternoon and evening on Sunday.

People planning to travel long distances on Christmas Day should monitor the forecast closely.

The storm will pull out by Monday evening and behind it, a cool down in temperatures.
