New Nordic Trail at Spirit Mountain
New Nordic Center for Skiers in Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. – Business leaders from all around the region have now donated about $70,000 to help make the Grand Avenue Nordic Center a reality.
This money will now go into building the center at the bottom of Spirit Mountain.
This will be a new cross country ski center and a place that will offer 3.3 kilometers of new trails and snow making.
Greg Benson, the Owner of Llol Designs, said “It’s a great asset for this town and the people behind it have a great vision. It’s bigger than just a trail system.”
It’s expected the new center will get plenty of use by area skiers.
Those behind the project believe it will be especially useful for athletes who compete in winter sports.
The city of Duluth has committed one million dollars to building the Grand Avenue Nordic Center, and fundraising efforts continue to cover the other $500,000 in costs.
The plan is to open the center in the Fall of 2017.
