Paid Sick Leave Debate Continues

Community Forum Held Today to Discuss Issue

DULUTH, Minn.-The debate for whether employers should offer paid sick leave raged on at a community forum in Duluth today.

Representatives from various organizations and businesses attended the event including the Duluth City Council President.

One of the main goals was to learn more about how the council-sponsored Earned Sick and Safe Leave Taskforce.

“It’s really to educate … on the impacts of earned and saved sick time and really it’s an educational presentation to help them learn more about what it means for them,” said Patricia Stolle, director of governmental affairs for the Northland Human Resources Association.

Much of the discussion focused on the cost impact it has on business. 125 Northlanders attended the event.
