Duluth ESST Task Force Ready for Next Step

Task Force to Hold Informational Meetings Over the Next Two Months

DULUTH, Minn. – The city’s Earned Safe and Sick Time Task Force is ready for the next step towards its goal of a city ordinance requiring business to provide paid time off for employees.

Eight public engagement meetings are scheduled between Feb. 17 and Apr. 19, so members can get feedback from the community.

A little less than half of Duluthians currently don’t have any paid time off, something the task force was charged with changing.

“We’re going quite an extra mile,” said Angie Miller, Executive Director of Community Action Duluth and Task Force member.  “We have eight of them set up at different times, different locations, some with childcare, some early in the morning so they’ll be accessible to employers and employees.  We want to hear from as many people as possible.”

In addition to the information sessions, task force members also have an online survey for employers and employees in order to get more feedback.
