Props Landing Opens in Hayward

New Restaurant Sits on Site of Original Famous Dave's

HAYWARD, Wis. – Props Landing isn’t a Bar–B–Que joint, but the new restaurant at the site of the original Famous Dave’s on Round Lake is open for business.

Hayward lost a landmark when Famous Dave’s burned down in late 2014, but the owners of Props Landing hope to start a new tradition.

Brian Weidendorf, and his wife Shari bought the land from “Famous” Dave Anderson about a year ago.

The décor is different from any restaurant in the Hayward area and a lot of the food comes from Wisconsin.

Weidendorf says he had a simple mandate from “Famous Dave” before taking over the property.

“It’s got to be fun,said Weidendorf.  “It’s got to be fun and exciting, you’ve got have good food, a nice place for people to hang out, and most of all you’ve got to have employees that treat people right.”

About half of Props Landing employees worked at the original Famous Dave’s.  One of those employees, Jess Reinhardt, says the new restaurant is unlike anything she’s ever seen.

“I love it,” said Reinhardt.  “I think it’s awesome, it’s unique, it’s new for Hayward.  It’s something Hayward doesn’t have.”

Widendorf seemed happy with the amount of business coming in for opening day, but added he can’t wait for warm weather and beautiful sunsets on the patio.
