Cloquet Animal Shelter Getting New Location May 1st

Taco Bell to Replace Old Location

CLOQUET, Minn.-The Friends of Animals Humane Society in Cloquet is moving to a new facility May 1.

It will be twice the square footage of its current location which has been there for 20 years – a Taco Bell will be replacing it.

One of current challenges it face is having only one meet and greet location where potential pet owners meet some new, furry friends. The new facility will have three of those, along with a room for pet owners to say goodbye to sick pets.

“We’ve really played Tetris with our current location…and now it’s time to move to get bigger to do some different things in the community,” said Kim Parmeter, executive director of Friends of Animals Humane Society.

The shelter is accepting donations from the public, with the hopes of creating an endowment fund in the future.

The hope for the new facility is to be constructed with no debt.
