LaPorte Leads the Spartans On and Off the Ice

Braden LaPorte is this week's Northern Star

SUPERIOR, WIS.- Superior Senior Braden LaPorte is everything you could want in a Captain.

“He’s a nice young man, he’s always polite, saying please and thank you, opening doors. He leads my team in that regard. Always makes sure when we walk into a building hats are off,” said Head Coach Jason Kalin.

A four-year starter LaPorte was an obvious choice for captain.

“He’s the loudest guy out here. He talks over me no problem,” said Kalin.

LaPorte’s leadership reaches far beyond the ice.

“Teaching those guys what it means to be a Spartan, leaving your legacy and not only how to be a good hockey player but acceptable young men as well,” said LaPorte.

The Spartans fell to Hudson in the section finals Saturday and even though Braden will be retiring his Superior jersey. His future on the ice is a bright one.

“I really enjoy playing hockey, it’s one of my favorite things to do and i can’t imagine not playing,” said LaPorte.
