Finland Turns 100

Sledding Was Part Of Their Celebration

Duluth, Minn

The snow arrived just in time tonight.

Sledding was in the forecast for the Finnish community tonight as the small country of Finland is celebrating their centennial birthday.

The group of Finnish Americans that live in Duluth celebrated in their countries honor at the snow flake ski resort with some fun and games.

They say it’s a big deal to be able to celebrate this milestone.

“It’s a big deal for us who are from Finland and you know those who have a connection with the community with this country it seems like a short time in some ways but at the same time for a small country it’s a big deal so we want to celebrate that,” says organizer Mimmu Salmela.

Community members that came were also welcome to learn about their culture, language, people food and more.
