Sign-Up Date Approaches to Invest in CSA Farming

On Sunday, March 19, the 5th Annual Local Community Supported Agriculture Farm (CSA) Open House will Take Place

DULUTH, Minn. – Happening Sunday, March 19, from 2:00 – 5:00p.m., more than 200 people will be gathering in Duluth to choose a local farm to grow their vegetables this summer.

Event organizers are hoping more Northlanders will choose to invest and buy local in 2017.

The 5th Annual Local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Farm Open House will take place at Clyde Iron Works, 2920 West Michigan Street, in Duluth.

CSA is a partnership between a community of individuals who pledge support to a farm operation so that the farmland both supports the farmer and provides the community with fresh, healthy food.

At the CSA Open House, local residents will have the chance to gain information that can be used to select a CSA share that’s right for you and your family.

All farmers at the open house serve the Twin Ports and are members of the CSA Guild. Farms represented at the event include:

-Food Farm (Janaki Fisher-Merritt and Annie Dugan)

-Fresh Starts Farm (Rye Carlson)

-Hermit Creek Farm (Landis and Steven Spickerman)

-North Wind Organic Farm (Ann Rosenquist and Tom Galazan), representing Chequamegon CSA

-Northern Harvest Farm (Rick and Karola Dalen)

-Stone’s Throw Farm (Catherine Conover and Elden Lindamood)

-Uncle Herman’s Farm (Deb Hannu and Pat Thomson)

-Elsewhere Farm (Clare Hintz)
