Young Actors Prepare for Disney Classic
The Duluth Playhouse Presents "The Lion King Jr!"
DULUTH, Minn. – A Disney classic is coming to Duluth.
The Duluth Playhouse is presenting “The Lion King Jr!” and it opens tonight.
This is being performed by the Children’s Theater, so all the actors are between the ages of 12-18.
Ashlee Hartwig, Duluth Playhouse Marketing Director, visited FOX 21 to chat about the musical.
Hartwig tells us these young actors have grown up in the theater and have been working hard for the production.
Many actor’s parents and other volunteers have also been working hard to create the costumes and sets for the play.
The first performance is tonight, March 16, at 7:00 p.m.
The production runs for two weeks through March 26.
The 90-minute musical is based on the Broadway production directed by Julie Taymor and the 1994 Disney film.
All tickets to the Playhouse Children’s Theatre production are $17 and are available online at duluthplayhouse.org/childrens-theatre or by calling the Playhouse Box Office at 218-733-7555.
